Wash & Care
Regarding caring for your Raya Rossi dress, we like to make clothes that last and are easy to maintain. Linen, cotton and most natural fibres are quite hardy, however here are a few tips for longevity:
Undo the ties: Don’t leave your closures (knots or bows) tied when washing your garments, once those ties are wet they will pull and tug unnecessarily on the seams.
Hand-wash / Machine Wash: Linen has been known to shrink at high temperatures, so to be safe always wash your linen garments on a low temperature of 40’C or less. When using the machine, make sure to use a gentle cycle and mild detergent to protect the fibres of the material. If you handwash your linen clothes (real TLC), only use a gentle swishing motion – never wring, twist or scrub the fabric. Lie flat to dry, or if hanging on a line make sure you hang it in half, so you don’t have too much weight pulling on the wet fibres.
Sunlight + Tumble Dry: Sunlight is always best for drying garments, but you can tumble dry your dress, just make sure to use a low temperature. Linen will shrink and stiffen if tumbled on a high heat. Take your dress out when it is slightly damp to avoid your dress becoming hard + stiff and hang or lie flat to finish the drying process. Drying your dress on a flat surface will help it keep the shape of the dress.
Ironing: Use a medium-hot iron on the steam setting and iron while your dress is still damp. Alternatively try using a steamer. White linen may be ironed on both sides, whilst dark linen should be pressed only on the reverse side.
